Welcome

Welcome to Klingbeils' Camp, a shared family legacy located in the southern Adirondacks of upstate New York, part of North America's Appalachian Mountains.

Initially called "Happy Hollow," this quiet patch is nestled on Green Lake, sharing a parcel of the Adirondack's "Forever Wild" preserve, in Fulton County.

Kurt and Lois Klingbeil built and nurtured this location during their pastorate and ministry in nearby Gloversville. They wanted their children to enjoy the enduring beauty of the Adirondacks, even as they raised their family in multiple church parsonages and homes throughout the Northeast US.

We welcome the opportunity to share this bit of our parent's special place with you.

Camp

A classic Adirondack cottage, understated but nicely furnished, with a very comfortable ambiance. Dog optional.

Lawn

The lawn feels like an outdoor room, or a simple transition area to the lake and its gradual, sandy slope past the docks. The Adirondack growing season is limited, even for grass. The lawn offers an opening to the sun and an easy time for alfresco entertaining.

Camel's Hump

The Camel’s Hump defines Green Lake. Overseeing the clear blue, ever so picturesque waters, the dark cliffs on the north faces are distinctive in autumn. Among the many EnCon trails in the area, the trail to Stewart Lake passes near the peaks.

Channel

Separating Green Lake from the much larger Canada Lake, the channel under NY Routes 10 and 29A has USGS elevation markers to indicate the depth of water in the lakes. This is controlled from the dam at Stewart’s Landing, about four miles downstream.

Sailboat

Alcort's Sailfish is a good starter sail boat, simple to operate with sail, rudder and daggerboard. It can easily be turned upright after capsizing (after orienting the underwater sail), and the hull is unsinkable.

Raft

An easy swim through very clear, brisk water, the raft floats at depth of 15 feet.
